It is clear that the late dancehall artiste J Capri whose real name is Jordan Phillips, is gone but not forgotten, as her family and friends gathered last Saturday night to reflect on her life and her achievements. Still sad that her life was cut short following a motor vehicle crash last year.

Her Mercedes motor car crashed into a wall and she was unconscious before she was rushed to the University Hospital of the West Indies. But it seems as if her fractured skull and damaged brain could not be repaired, even though the Doctors did surgery, and she died.

J Capri’s fans and well wishers all gathered at the Spades Night Club on Phoenix Avenue, St. Andrew and had a memorial party.

But J Capri’s mother, Oradell ‘Debbie’ Carwin was a bit disappointed at the end, as the event did not attract the crowd she had expected it to attract.

“I miss her, I just miss her ” Jahmeil the young dancehall star said. He was one of the persons who attended the memorial. He said she believed in him before anyone else did. And Radio personality Nikki Z and Mystic Davis  the dancer and singer were also there.

It is sad that more of her fans and more artistes didn’t turn out at the event, as no one knows what tomorrow will bring and it is good to keep on supporting those who are grieving after a loved one has passed on.

Proceeds from the event will go towards the J Capri Foundation, which is designed to assist specially selected students to attend the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, “to further their artistic aspirations, which is where Jordan went to study music”, Carwin said.
